Return Policy

1. General Return Policy

Most merchandise purchased through the Fort Meigs Historic Site Online Store may be returned under the following conditions:

• Items must be returned within 30 days of the original purchase date.
• Merchandise must be unused, unworn, and in original condition.
• All original packaging, tags, and included materials must be returned.
• Proof of purchase (Lightspeed order confirmation or receipt) is required.

Returns that do not meet these conditions may be refused or subject to a restocking fee at our discretion.

2. Non-Returnable Items

The following items are not eligible for return or refund, except in cases of damage or defect:

• Opened DVDs, or other media
• Clearance or final sale items
• Gift cards or gift certificates
• Memberships, event tickets, or donations
• Custom, personalized, or made-to-order products
• Digital downloads or virtual products

3. Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items

If your order arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect:

• Please notify us within 7 days of delivery.
• Contact us with your order number and a description of the issue.
• We may request photographs of the damage or defect to assist with processing.

In these cases, Fort Meigs Historic Site will provide a replacement or full refund, including any applicable shipping costs.

4. How to Request a Return

All online returns must be initiated through our customer service team. To begin a return:

• Your name
• Lightspeed order number
• Item(s) you wish to return
• Reason for return

Once your return request is approved, you will receive instructions for returning the item.

5. Return Shipping

• Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the return is due to our error or a defective item.
• We recommend using a trackable shipping service when returning items.
• Fort Meigs Historic Site is not responsible for returned packages that are lost or damaged in transit.

Original shipping charges are non-refundable.

6. Refund Processing (Lightspeed Payments)

Refunds for online orders are processed through the Lightspeed eCommerce and Lightspeed Payments system and are issued to the original payment method used at checkout.

• Once your return is received and approved, the refund will be initiated through Lightspeed.
• Please allow 7–10 business days for processing.
• Depending on your bank or credit card provider, it may take additional time for the refund to appear on your account.

We cannot issue refunds in cash for online purchases.

7. Exchanges

Exchanges are subject to product availability.

If you would like to exchange an item:

• Contact us to confirm availability of the replacement item.
• Exchanges for online purchases will be processed through the Lightspeed system as either a return and new purchase or a direct exchange when possible.

Additional shipping charges may apply.

8. Order Changes and Cancellations

Orders placed through the Lightspeed eCommerce platform are processed promptly.

• If you need to modify or cancel an order, contact us as soon as possible.
• We can only cancel orders that have not yet shipped.
• Once an order has shipped, it must be handled as a return according to this policy.

9. In-Store Returns of Online Purchases

Items purchased through our Lightspeed online store may be returned in person at Fort Meigs Historic Site with proof of purchase. Refunds for online orders returned in person will still be processed back to the original payment method through the Lightspeed system.

10. Policy Exceptions

The Fort Meigs Association reserves the right to evaluate returns on a case-by-case basis and to refuse any return that does not comply with this policy.
